While I didn't particularly want him to be the next President of my country, I found Senator David Norris' speech, telling of his intention to step out of the race for the Oireachtas, to be inspiring and moving. He certainly stepped down in a very dignified and graceful manner, thanking all his campaign workers, even tho' they choose not to stand by him. He said he wrote that controversial letter "out of love and concern for someone who had been very important in his life". It just goes to show that no matter who we are or what position we hold, we all do silly things when emotions are involved.
I liked that he stood outside his own house and gave his speech, and didn't give it from behind some official office desk or in front of some public building.
