All in a day's work!

Something really weird happened to me today.  It's been so long since it happened to me that I had to double check that it really did!!

It started off as just another ordinary day....

I got up, fell over the shoes I had left on the bedroom floor the night before, made my way to the bathroom, had a shower, got soap in my eyes, forgot to bring in a towel for my hair, dripped wet hair everywhere, dried my hair in such a hurry that it was sticking out all over the place, discovered that the trousers I wanted to wear to work were in the laundry basket, found another pair and then realized that the shoes I fell over didn't go with them so had to look for another pair, went downstairs, fell over the dog, burnt my breakfast, let the dog out, noticed what I had left out for lunch was eaten the night before by a hungry teenager, let the dog in, couldn't find my keys, let the dog out again, ate my breakfast, searched for my keys, filled the dogs bowl, found my keys, let the dog in again, got in the car, was now late, traffic was cr*p, sang along to the radio, shouted out the answers to the quiz on the morning show, traffic still crap, made it to work just in time, and then it happened.....

I got in the lift, pressed the wrong floor, got off and walked back down the stairs, walked as quietly to my desk as I could.......and there it was......There was a pile of work waiting for me!!!  A pile of work with little yellow post-it's on it with my name on them.  How weird is that!!  Well its very weird for me and I had to check that I was at the right desk and that I was awake and it wasn't all just a dream and I would wake up and Bobby would be in the shower (That's a Dallas reference for those of you old enough to remember).  :-)

Seriously, I have been unemployed and under-employed now for almost a year and a half and I was beginning to despair.  My brain was beginning to think that my body had left it.  But, at last it looks like I am starting to become useful to this company that I am temping with.  I seem to be in demand now and everybody wants me to do different things for them.  All of a sudden they are adding me to different 'systems' and making sure I know how to use them.  It's great to feel so needed and useful again!!  :-)

Long may it last, and I even left work, that I didn't have time to complete today, behind me for tomorrow.  So no more "going in and waiting around for something to do" for me!!  Maybe now they will actually give me a permanent job.

(Although if they read the paragraph about my very inefficient way of getting ready and getting to work, they would never employ me!!)

I was in such good humor I sang all the way home in the car....(lucky for my fellow commuters that the windows were up!!)
