First day at the 'new job'.
Glad that's over!
Like most people starting work in a new place, I wanted to make a good impression, so I chose as my attire for the day, a skirt. Not my normal choice but usually a good choice for the 'offic-e look'! Well, the skirt looked really trendy on the hanger, but when I put it on this morning, I looked more like a Nun then a trendy office person! Oh well, no time to change now, it will just have to do.
Got there early and had to wait around for somebody to let me in! Eventually got in, and was greeted by my new boss, who escorted me to my new office, down a long (old) corridor! Oh no....not more corridors for me to get lost in. He showed me into a lovely bright office with a few empty desks and gave me a choice of which one I could use. Impressed.com!!!! An office with huge windows and a choice of desk, no more dungeons or basements or fighting for a desk every morning for me. I chose the desk beside his....mainly because it's beside one of the big windows and I have a great view of everything outside. Imagine, I can see outside AND I have somebody to talk to, bliss! OK I know for most of you this is the norm, but for me who has spent most of the last year in firstly alone in a Dungeon and then in a windowless basement, this is a HUGE novelty!! So far I it's all looking good.
Back out into the corridor to be shown the next most important place, the coffee station!! Very easy to find, it's just down the corridor, and to my added delight, I discover that there are only two corridors, which run parallel to each other, so there is no chance of me getting lost on the way back with the coffee! Hurrah!
All I need now is some work to do. No problem, there you go Siobhan, move that car out of the Showroom. Jeez, am I dreaming, they want me to move and SLK on my first day.....could this job get any better?
Oh wait........Damn........I forgot about the skirt. The SLK is three inches off the ground and my skirt is a three inches off my knee.....yikes.....this is going to take some careful maneuvering, and that's just me getting in and out of the car with three people I never met before watching me, never mind getting the car out of a tightly packed showroom!! Oh why do I get myself into these situations!! Now I really do wish I looked like a Nun, with a skirt all the way down to my ankles!!
Well I did it, I passed the first test, and I kept my modesty (and the car) intact! But that's the last time I am going to try and make an impression on anybody, from now on I'll just have to be trendy in my trousers, and more comfortable in my SLK! Oh wait.....have I got that backwards......should that be comfortable in my trousers and trendy in my SLK??
All right, it's not really my SLK, but I can look at it.....every day, and drool.....every day.....I might even park it outside the window, and just look out at it.....every day.....or I might even just look out the window even if there is no car......every day......BIG SIGH.....
