My friend invited me over this evening to her house, to see her daughter dressed in all her finery before she left for her Debs ball! And never being one to refuse a glass of bubbly, I got off work early and thought I would make a quick exit and get there just in time to see her off.
So, down the long corridor, into the Fireman's lift, up four floors, through two sets of security doors, along another corridor, out through the baggage hall, whizzed by customs, ran through the arrivals doors.....and..... straight into this:
Wow, the Irish Rugby Team's home coming! What a buzz! It slowed me down a bit but it was very exciting! I even got to pose for a photo, but not with my camera as I didn't have one with me! Typical, for once I'm in the right place at the right time, but without the right tools! I am in this photo, you can just about see me, I the one trying to push my way through under the arrivals sign! :-) Anyway it put me in good humor and I skipped all the way to the car park like a 10 year old! Or maybe an 11 year old...
But, there's always a downside, being slowed down by the crowd and posing for photos made me late! So I decided to have another little adventure for myself and take the quickest way to my friends house in Sandymount. The Port Tunnel! It's been open since 2006 and I have never used it. I am useless for trying new routes always sticking to the way I know, even if its not the most direct way! So being tied for time, I gave it a go, and got to my friends house in about 15 minutes! It did cost me €3, but who cares. Again, I was in the right place at the right time, again without my camera but never mind, I got there just in time for the bubbly!!
After more excitement, and photographs, it was time to go home. So, out of the driveway, around the corner, out onto the main road and...believe it or not, once again I found myself surrounded by men in green jerseys! Lucky me, twice in the one day? Were the rugby team following me?
Eh, no....no such luck! Same green but different jerseys! My friend lives close to the Stadium and this time I was surrounded by Soccer fans on their way to see Ireland play Armenia. More pushing my way through crowds, but this time it was harder, as I was driving!!
Home safe now and after all that excitement, I think I need to lie down.
Oh Ireland won the match which means we qualify for eh.....more matches!! And by the way, I think Brian O'Driscoll was wearing make-up, maybe he knew he was going to be in a photograph with me...
